The Level Up Test (LUT) is a 20-minute conversation with a tutor in a virtual classroom on EnglishCentral (website or app). It measures your improvement compared to the Level Test and is similar to it in structure. You can schedule the LUT when you have completed all of your courses. Read below to find out how you can check if you have completed your courses and fill in the form to request the LUT.

Your Level (Up) Test will take place on EnglishCentral (website or app) in a virtual classroom. We ask you to login 5 minutes before the scheduled session time and go to the Live! Lessons section. Our experience is that if you take the test on a mobile device it is better to use the EnglishCentral app (for Android or iOS/iPhone). If you use the internet browser of your mobile device there can be problems with the date/time settings.

You have scheduled your Level Test but something went wrong and you could not take it. We are sorry for the inconvenience. In this article we mention reasons test participants sometimes cannot successfully take their English Level Test with a teacher. We also explain what to do next.

You can reschedule your Level Test up to 1 hour prior to its start. If you miss your Level Test or you are unable to connect with your teacher on time, your session will be marked as "Missed" in your englishcentral.com account. After this is done, you will be able to schedule a new Level Test.

If you miss your LUT or you are unable to connect with the teacher on time, your session will be marked as "Missed" in your englishcentral.com account. If you do miss your Level Up Test, you will be able to schedule a new one with this form.

An EnglishCentral teacher will assess your English level in an online conversation using the classroom on EnglishCentral (website or app). In this conversation, you will answer several personal questions and you might have to perform a couple of exercises. Read this article to prepare yourself for the Level Test. 

At Spot On Learning we work hard to provide quality testing. One important aspect of this is the results' accuracy in reflecting the participant’s English level.

EnglishCentral.com and the EnglishCentral app provide access to a 'Classroom'. This virtual classroom is used to take your Level (Up) Test and GoLive! lessons on englishcentral.com. Before July 2024 the meeting application Zoom was used for classroom sessions, this is no longer the case.

At Spot On Learning, we work with two English tests to estimate your overall English level: [1] the oral Level Test taken online by a teacher and [2] a multiple-choice English Grammar & Vocabulary Test that can for some participants also include Reading & Writing assignments. The combination of the two makes our testing methodology both comprehensive and practical. 

We will upload your Level Test result after you take the test and we do the quality and consistency checks. Usually, it does take around 3 working days to do this. We will email you once we have uploaded your results to your my.spotonlearning.eu account.

After you have taken your Level (up) Test, you will receive your test result. In most cases the result will be expressed as a CEFR level (A1, A1/A2, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). CEFR is an international standard to measure a person's second language proficiency. The level required by your employer will also be a CEFR level. The tests we offer and the associated quality control described below are designed in such a way that all our participants are tested in an equal manner. All content and lessons of Spot On Learning courses can be viewed on mobile devices (Android, iOS/Apple). Lessons and content on my.spotonlearning.eu can be accessed using a browser (like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) on a computer or mobile device. For English language courses on our partner platform you can use a browser on a computer or an app on your mobile device (Android or iOS/Apple). For some courses our advice is to use a device with a screen that is not too small (computer or tablet).

If you want to reach your Required Level as soon as possible, there are a few things we can recommend: adhering to your weekly goals, increasing your vocabulary and improving your speech.

Whether or not you can take the Intercultural Communication in the Maritime World course depends on several things, i.e., the agreement with your organization and your rank. For each client, the agreement can be different, so the best way to know the most accurate information is to contact your coordinator.

If you want to get the most out of your Intercultural Communication in the Maritime World course, there are a few things we can recommend. Completing no more than 2 lessons a week, allowing yourself time to read everything carefully, comparing the perspectives mentioned in the cases with your beliefs and ideas are some of them. If you follow our learning strategy, you are more likely to pass the final test.

How fast you can reach your Required Level (RL) depends on several things, e.g., your current English level. To reach your RL, you will work on the courses assigned. Other factors that can influence how fast you improve are: how many hours you study, how you spread work in the course, if you do extracurricular activities, etc.

If you want to get the most out of your Maritime English course, there are a few things we can recommend: using Lesson Plans, increasing your vocabulary and adhering to your weekly goals. If you follow our learning strategy, you are more likely to pass the final test.

The error message ‘Error 409 - token required’ normally appears when you want to submit answers to a test or lesson but have been logged out of the site automatically, after being inactive for an extended period.
 

If you encounter a technical problem - something does not work as expected on my.spotonlearning.eu or EnglishCentral (web or app) - we recommend to first read our troubleshooting tips and try what is suggested. If this does not work or you need immedate assistance it helps alot if you collect some info that can help the Spot On Learning support or technical team understand and resolve the issue.
