How do I set a required CEFR level?

When starting our online learning program, Spot On Learning advises you on which minimum CEFR levels to use. The minimum CEFR level represents the score a participant needs to achieve to 'pass' the Level Test (LT). Level Tests are graded with a score from 0 to 100. This number is the so-called Level Test score.

As a coordinator, you insert the minimum score the participant needs to achieve to ‘pass’ the test. You do this when adding new participants.

  • Shortcut: type the CEFR Level (e.g. A2),  the system automatically uses the matching lower figure of the CEFR range.

Every score has an equivalent CEFR Level. In the flowcharts shared with your company, you can find which required level every participant should reach.

CEFR LEVEL

LT score

EC LEVEL

A1

0 - 10

Level 1: Pre-Beginner

A1

11 - 25

Level 2: Low Beginner

A2

26 - 40

Level 3: Low Intermediate

B1

41 - 55

Level 4: Intermediate

B2

56 - 70

Level 5: Low Advanced

C1

71 - 85

Level 6: Advanced

C2

86 - 100

Level 7: Upper Advanced

An example to clarify the previous:

  • If participant X needs to reach level B1, every score between 41-55 will be marked as B1. So 41 points is the minimum amount of points the participant needs to get on his test to reach level B1.
